Hearthstone: Reno Priest deck list guide - March 2017 (Standard)

Our essential guide to getting started with Reno Priest in Season 36.

Reno Priest is a Hearthstone deck that takes the extraordinary restorative power of Reno Jackson, throws in a Kazakus to help cook up a deadly brew or two, and then - in its current form at least - mixes in some potent Dragon synergies together to form a truly deadly fighting force to overwhelm the opponent with.

If we're completely frank, it's not one of the easiest decks to wrap your head around or pilot in Hearthstone, and as with every Reno deck it's going to take quite a while for us to see a standardised version of the deck emerge. Saying that though, if you like long and controlling matches - and you own a decent chunk of the new Gadgetzan cards in your collection - then we think you're going to find this one a fascinating new archetype to play around with.

In our Reno Priest guide for February, we're going to first of all outline one - strong - example of the many deck lists that are being tested right now, before walking you through the basics of the all-important Mulligan phase. To help give you a deeper understanding of the strategy required for winning with this deck, we've also got a breakdown of all of the most important card combos that power this archetype.

We'll be keeping a close eye on this deck list along with all the other emerging decks as the weeks wear on, and we'll update this guide to reflect any changes that we think need to be made. Make sure you let us know how you're getting on with this particular take on Reno Priest in the comments!

Editor's note: March 2017 update: There are some minor changes to our preferred Reno Priest deck list for the month of March, but nothing that fundamentally affects the strategy underpinning the archetype. Make sure you update your in-game deck list though, and avoid crafting anything expensive if this is your first time with the deck. Reno Jackson won't be a part of the Standard format in a month or so, making this deck irrelevant to that corner of the game.

Reno Priest (Standard) tips, combos and synergies - March 2017

This is a relatively new deck for all of us to get to grips with, and so we recommend taking a bit of time to study the synergies you have at your disposal. Once you can keep these combos at the back of your mind at all times, you should be able to efficiently adapt to the opponent in front of you.

- The following cards all require you to have an extra Dragon-class card in your hand for their Battlecry or Deathrattle effects to be triggered: Book Wyrm, Blackwing Corruptor, Twilight Guardian, Twilight Whelp, Drakonid Operative, Netherspite Historian and Wyrmrest Agent.

- Think of how you can "optimise" damage to your minions for a large amount of card draw from the Holy Nova / Northshire Cleric combo.

- If you have Brann Bronzebeard out on the board, then all of your subsequently played Battlecry cards will see their bonus effects go off twice.

- As well as drawing you a card, Azure Drake will also boost the strength of your spell-damage cards for as long as it remains in play.

- Dragonfire Potion will deal damage to every minion on the board unless they are Dragons, in which case they will be immune to the effect. Think carefully before casting this spell!

- Shadow Madness can be used to bring an enemy minion into range of Shadow Word: Pain

- Raza the Chained combos with Shadowform to grant you an extra source of free damage each turn via your Hero Power.
