The voice actor behind Destiny 2’s Crucible master, Lord Shaxx, has revealed his favourite voice line that never made it into the final game.
In an interview with Gamespot, voice actor Lennie James revealed a line that he was particularly fond of, and it’s plucked straight from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.
Here’s the line that never made it:
”But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and I--I am the Crucible.”
It’s one that most literature buffs will appreciate and would probably appeal to those who haven’t even glanced at Shakespeare’s works. A more poetic line for the typically blunt Shaxx? That’s pretty awesome in our book.
If we go ahead and compare Shaxx’s line to the original it’s almost a direct copy:
”But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun.”
In many ways, this over-the-top adaptation of a line from Romeo and Juliet fits Shaxx’s personality, and we do hope that it slips into the game at some point, and somehow.
Towards the end of the interview there’s also mention of James recording more dialogue for the downloadable content that's due out in a few month's time. It’s a pretty interesting detail and one that suggests a brand new Crucible mode could be on the way.
We'll be covering all aspects of the next content drop as soon as they become available.
